Bwindi Impenetrable Forest as a national park is located in southwestern Uganda, situated along the Democratic Republic of Congo border next to the Virunga National Park and on the edge of the Albertine rift, the western branch of the East African rift valley. Bwindi is one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth, where half the world’s population of endangered mountain gorillas live. This thick forest hosts about 120 mammals like forest elephants, and antelopes, several primate species like chimpanzees and baboons and about 350 bird species.  The major attraction of visitors to this forest is the gorilla trekking but tourists can also enjoy bird watching, mountain hiking, nature walks and community visits

Day 1 Transfer form Kampala to Bwindi national park

This amazing gorilla adventure safari is to last you three days. You will be picked up from either the airport/ hotel depending on your location. That’s where you will start from and embark on a 7hour journey which covers 472.7km from Kampala city to the great Bwindi impenetrable forest. After covering 266.5km, you will arrive to Mbarara town which is a 4-hour drive and stop over for lunch and a little refreshment. From there, you will be driven straight to your lodge where you will have dinner and spend the night (lodges are determined by the gorilla permit booked).

Day 2 Gorilla Trekking

You will wake up to ready breakfast at the lodge then get ready to hit the forest for the amazing gorilla trekking activity.  This activity can take 2 to 7 hours depending on your luck that day with the gorillas. After they are trekked down, you will be allowed a maximum of 1 hour to interface with these awesome primates. From the lodge, you will be taken to the Bwindi impenetrable forest national park offices handling gorilla tracking for orientation and meeting with the guides. You will be divided into small groups not exceeding 8 trekkers to enter the jungle for a day.
While inside the jungle, you will not only see the primates but also encounter numerous bird species and butterflies, amazing flora and fauna. This makes this trekking one-of-a-kind activity for it involves hiking and climbing with the mountain gorillas just a few meters from the group of trekkers. After this amazing adventure and discovery in the Bwindi forests, you will be awarded with a certificate congratulating you about the successfully tracking down the mountain gorillas. You will be driven back to the lodge for dinner and spend the night.

Day 3 Return to Kampala

Again, you will wake up to ready breakfast. Today is when you checkout and head back to Kampala/airport. Along the journey, you can stop over at the equator for some photo shots and souvenirs.
